You guys that have tried different tuners, how do you afford to do it? I like my live-tuned DP, and perhaps I'd like something else better. I can't imagine them being enough different to justify what it would cost to try a few, though.
How do you get ahold of this Matt guy? I just found a used chip for $175 and I am ready to move! I would like to get the specs needed. It is a TS chip with a big ****.
Good deal. You will be very happy with both the service you get and the tunes you receive. (Not that you wouldn't with some of the others as well)
Only thing about this one BD that I'm abut to buy is that it's for a 2002-2003 7.3 while mine's a 2001. I just called a local Ford Powerstroke shop and asked the owner what the difference is. He said the motor is exactly the same but the trannys have a revised shifting something or another on the 02-03's. He said to go ahead and put in this BD and see what happens, it wouldn't mess anything up as in blow it up but I might have poor shifting.
Anyone have anythiing to offer? It might be a week or two before I send it off to be reprogrammed so I'd like to at least try it in the meantime. Btw, Gearhead said the years won't matter once they reprogram the BD.
I called Bully Dog, they said it simply will not do anything, the programs are completely different. They could reprogram it to their specs for a 2001 for $200 or I could send it to Gearhead and have their's for $175.00. Either way I can't use it as is which sucks big fat donkey *****.

Not quite true....
When I sold my SCT, I sold it to someone who had a 1999.5 F350.
My old SCT had to be specially programmed becuase my trans was replaced with a re-man 2003 transmission. My truck was flashed for an '01 Engine, but an '03 transmission.
With '01 engine and transmission shifting, it would never shift right and slam into gear. I had them flash it for an '01 engine and trans and shifting was smooth and firm after that.
Going back to the original topic, we tried it on the 1999.5 so if it didn't work, I would gladly take it back before the money changed hands. I programmed his truck and we took it on a drive to find the shifting improved and noticably better than it was stock.
So you may end up with a better shift strategy when everything is said and done....

Just be patient a little bit longer and send it off to Matt as soon as you get it
