I have a 2003 PSD F350 Dually. It started having a fuel line leak at the connection that is on the lower left frame rail flex line and steel line that goes up the left side of the engine. It does not effect how the engine runs or driveabililty, it is just dumping feul out of, or very near that connection point. I am assuming that it is the return line, as there seems to be no air intrusion.
My question is: Does this truck use a 'High Pressure' system? Or can these lines be converted to regular flex line?
Any advice would be great! Thanks, Ed.
No high pressure. It will be 58-62psi if it is the feed line going to the fuel filter and less than that on the resturn.
You can use Goodyear J30R9 fuel injection hose.It is pricey but it is the best IMO.
Thanks for the info! I am borrowing this truck and it seems everything is going wrong with it! The truck has only 80K on it, does not see winter use, and the mirrors quit working, the cruise control quit working, the 4WD and 4WD-Low quit working, as well as the trailer circuits for the brake and turn. Now the fuel line is leaking! Geesh... I need to get it back to its owner soon! Thanks again, Ed.
Don't use ordinary hose clamps, they cut into the line. Use fuels injector hose clamps... unless you don't like the prson you borrowed it from. Another point - hoses and cabling are covered with wireloom, because these trucks last so long that chafing becomes an issue.
80K on a 2003? It has sit-rot. If it went on the market for the right price, many here would snag that up.
