Ok I want to swap a 12 valve into a highboy, my basic goal is to have a sled pulling truck that is geared for highway use. So I'm wondering if the F250 and F350 highboy frames are the same? I don't care about the suspension as I'm going to change it anyways. I got a lead on a 72 F250 that is in good shape supposedly that the owner wants to get rid of. Would that be any good for my plans?

a 72 is actually a bump side but the frames will be the same as a 73-77 highboy.
as to your question about a HB being the same frame as a f350, your answer is no. the HB as a unique frame.
im building a 76 HB with a 12v right now, check out my build thread
In the 4x4 the f350 didn't start till '79 and it was considered a low boy. I'm not so sure that a dent side body will bolt right on to bump side frame if thats what your planning ? Frame widths are different in the high boy from the cab back. I'm sure someone will come along with that imfo though.
Oh ok I so I guess I'll have to go with an f250 highboy, I thought you could get 4x4 on both 3/4 and 1 tons. As far as swapping bodys I don't plan on it I just mentioned the 72 because I found a deal on one but I like the body style of 73-77 whatever year I get I'll most likely stay with that body.

The wheelbase on a 1972 would be 131" for a standard cab truck. In 1973 the wheelbase was increased slightly to 133".
I don't know definitively that the frames are different, but I'd recommend taking some measurements to ensure the 1972 frame will work. My suspicion is the frames are slightly different.
Last I checked they don't let you do that here. I tried with the build thread on my crew cab a while back &it was a no-go...
lame.
didnt realize there was a 2 inch difference in wheel base, ive never owned a bumpside, they are quite rare around here and have only ever seen one for sale.

My suspicion is that the springs are not centered on the '67 - '72 highboys (the hole in the rear springs is ~ 2.5" ahead of center IIRC).
It might be the front springs too though. I can't remember. I thought that the frames were identical.
