It's smooth riding the rails isn't it? I bought a few old railroad fleet trucks to strip and re sell. Some actually came fully equipped with the harsco hy-rail wheel assemblies.

It's not near as smooth as you might think.
Cool that you knew I was on the rail. Of corse you ruined my fun with those that didn't know.
Didn't mean to ruin your fun! I tested a few of my railway trucks on my friends property that has just over 2 miles of abandoned track and that seemed pretty smooth or maybe it was just the cool feeling of driving on the tracks! My trucks were all old 2000 V10 CC LB with pto's on them that would whine and scream at any speed and pretty well worn out with idle time. Mine came from The Wisconsin Central line but I read it's all part of CN anyways.
I'm supposed to be getting a newer truck soon. Looking forward to an almost new truck except that it is a Chevy. Oh well. I don't have to fix it or pay for the gas that I put in it. 2012 Chevy with ~50k miles on it versus this 2004 with a VERY hard 230k miles on it. Only time I ever turn this truck off is when I'm filling up, eating lunch somewhere, or when I get home. Many many hours on these trucks.
wow, mine only had 160,000 miles on it and it was very tired. It had a Ford HD4R100 recently installed it looked like, Im guessing the 1,500-1,800 rpms running the pto killed off the factory one. This was a few shots of my most recent one but I cant figure out what that hydraulic hose reel was for maybe a jack or something?
Also found out that for some reason the truck I have now doesn't have a rev limiter when in reverse like all the other railroad trucks I have driven. Most are limited to ~3k rpms. Mines was still going at 4,200! (That's almost 45 mph.)
