i have a 1994 f-150 and the sterring wheel is lose. It does have the tilt wheel. The colum doesn't move but the wheel has a bunch of up and down play. I took the wheel off and and part of the colum apart and there is some medal savings came out i didnt take it a part any futher cause i dont know what i was getting into. Is this a commn prob with these year models. Can i fix it myself or do i need to find another colum??

Simple issue..There's a brass/alloy collar in the column that the wheel technically rides on..
Years of overweight men yanking on the wheel to pull themselves into the truck is a cuplrit...
You can opt to replace that particular piece, or get another column..
I swapped the column out of my 1991 Crown Vic into my 1992 F-150..
Literally plug and play...Minus the Horn wiring...
