Hey, I'm new to the forum here. I'm a college student right now and am working on upgrading my 1995 f350 diesel 4x4 5speed. So far all I have is a k&n cold air intake and 3 in downpipe and 4in Magnaflow exhaust. I'm not wanting something too crazy. I do a lot of traveling while hauling relatively light loads and want to get good mileage but have as much power as is possible and still be reliable. What would be the next step in power upgrades? Any suggestions? And remember, I'm on a college student budget, but I'm willing to save up to get the best.
First off ditch that K&N and get something like a 6637. Also, definitely make sure the truck is in top running order before modding. Ie; brakes, steering, suspension etc.
After you get the 6637 and you alredy have exhaust,
Gauges
Chip
Then depending on money, injectors.
It depends on how much power you want and what you wallet can handle.

First of all, what is so much better about a 6637? Is there anything significant? The tubing and placement of the filters look the same and actually the tubing on the k&n looks smoother. I have gauges on the truck already, forgot to mention that. EGT's, and boost at least. I've heard so many things about chips, what are the top names flying around? I've also heard that with the stock injectors on a 95' you can only get about 80 more hp no matter what chip n' stuff you use. Is that true?
So how much does a 6637 cost/ where is the best place to purchase? Also, since being a student I may wait to get injectors till I have some $$ and/or the old ones start giving problems. I've heard a lot about the Tony Wildman tuners, they good for the money? I'll have to save for a bit for one of them too.
If you've already got the 4" 45* bend into the filter, you can pick up just the 6637 filter from napa for around 65 bucks. If not, guys have made their own bends out of PVC or exhaust piping. Definitely DIY capable if you want to save a few bucks.
yep trust the folks word on here about K&N filters, I had an oiled one and while gas engines can get away with atmospheric pressure, turbo's suck air in, now anything that gets past the filter (and if its oiled will almost certainly will bring dirt with it) and into the turbo impeller. suffice to say its like sandblasting the wheel, not good. As for the tymar filter, here is a link to the one I ordered Riffraff Diesel: RDP 6637 Filter Kit
not to thread jack but with basic mods (lets say the intake system above, 3" DP, 4" exhaust and chip) realistically, how much power can you achieve?
What would be the first item in terms of power limitation past the above mods? injectors? turbo?
Sorry again not trying to thread jack I am trying to settle a dispute a argument with a buddy that thinks he is gonna push 500+ power easy without having to do any internal work or massive amounts of cash.
