I recently had the '94 E4OD Transmission replaced. Since then, now it occasionally stalls at a stop light and will stall when shifting into reverse. Also has intermittent hard shifts 1-2 & 3-4. I took it back to the transmission shop and he installed an external trans cooler, by-passing the cooler in the radiator. And that helped, now it only stalls when shifting in reverse and at the light 'occasionally', seems when I drive it about 30 minutes or so.
The transmission pro that replaced it says its not the transmission, he says its the TPS Throttle Position Sensor. Any advice is appreciated.
are you talking engine stalling or tranny stalling? there is a position sensor on the tranny. it detects what position the lever is in. you can see it on the outside of the tranny where the lever is.
I have seen a few posts where this part goes whacky and causes wierd problems, mostly shifting problems. but I don't think it would cause the engine to stall unless it was shorting something in the PCM, which would throw your engine lite to come on. if it was your TPS, it would have been doing it before. unless this is a coincidence. pross.
