Tow rating
I have an 2006 F350 4X4 SRW Crew Cab Long bed 6.0L
Automatic with tow package.
I was thinking of a gooseneck flatbed. It needs to be about 28 -30'
open deck for moving broken airplanes and other things 6k to 8 K
in weight for the cargo. Most loads will be under or at the 6K mark.
Can this be done? I really don't want to ask someone in sales
that is looking to make a commission on the sale.

It can also be found here! Click on the truck, scroll down and look at the left, You will see towing specshttps://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...r-and-faq.html
TOWING SPECIFICATIONS
Make sure you read Towing tip and Info located here.
Towing capacities are affected by the load in your truck & options ordered.
Find your numbers and calculate accordingly. Of course, people exceed the GVWR all the time, that's your call, and the law where you live. Some places care, others don't.
Brian
tire and rim rating is vehicle rating.
registered total vehicle weight is vehicle and tow weight
permissable. GVWR is not legally binding here. tires,
rims, and tag are what the CHP goes by.
so, the michelin's and alcoa rims i have are rated at
3,450 lbs. per corner. 13,800 GVR.
weight with a full tank of fuel is 10,400 lbs. 5,900 on
the rear wheels. so i make weight. let's say tongue weight
properly loaded is 10% of trailer weight, so a 9,000 lb.
trailer will be 900 lb...
my tags are good for 20,000 lbs. so this mythical whale
rolling down the road at 19,400 lbs is fully legal. most
weight i've carried was 16,500 pulling a trailer back from
phoenix on I-10... set it at 60 mph and just chugged along.
totally stock at the time, and i got 19.5 MPG over the 400
miles. go figure.
in calif. the overweight fine is $1 per pound. it pays to weigh,
measure, and follow the rules.
add your tire/wheel capacity of truck. using above for example (dually 3400x6=20,700)
add your tire/wheel cap of trailer Tandem Duals @ 3050x8=24,400
Add your GVW on your truck(13k) + GVW of your trailer(22.5k)=35,500
Now take your Weight of truck (8350) and weight of trailer (7100)= 15,450
This equates out to a combined GVW of 35,500-combined curb weight 15,450=20,050#Payload
Now this payload is when properly distributed over the axles and making sure your axle weights are proper to the mfg limits.
Ive been inspected and had this explained to me a couple different times and have always drove away fully legal and safe.
I know i didnt explain it the best but it should make some sense lol.
