Need 16" wheels?

I got no response in the wheel section and I need to use this truck, so i'll try here.

I have a 1975 F-350 Dually. It has 8-lug 16.5" rims. I need new tires, so i want to switch to some 16" rims in better condition. I had a blow out bringing it home from Indiana, the rim blew apart on the interstate. It has the tapered lug nuts every other one and i can't get a straight answer on what year trucks I could get a set off of. I also know some dodge rims are supposed to fit as well. I need new tires and 16.5" are way too expensive when i do find them.

any 8 lug ford till 1998, any dodge or chevy until at least 2000. I think dodge continued to use 8x6.5 until just a few years ago. These should all use tapered lug nuts, almost all steel wheels do. I don't know what you mean by "tapered every other one" though.

Does your truck have the right hand thread on one side? I think the duallies were all dana 70's and the d70's of that era seem to all have had the right hand thread on I think the drivers side? Not that it would make a difference as far as wheels.

I believe, after some annoying research, the term for them is coined rims. I haven't been able to find them that way anywhere and was also wondering if a 16" 8x6.5 rim that isn't coined would be able to be put on safely.

Coined rims?

Interesting. I dunno, those guys say ford used that type of rim into the 80's. but also say you can switch over to the newer style as long as you don't mix and match. I'd never heard of that till now.

RV.Net Open Roads Forum: Class C Motorhomes: Old Dodge 16.5 wheels upgrade?

This guy had that style rim on a dodge and replaced with ford wheels of unknown vintage.

aftermarket aluminim dually wheels - Dodge Cummins Diesel Forum

These guys talk about various solutions... seem under the impression that you can't run flat hub wheels on a truck with coined rims.

I dunno man I had 3 dana70's and all 3 had FLAT hubs. They were off both DRW and SRW trucks.

I found this old thread and it looks like I need to get the coined.

I know the 92 uses lug nuts with washers built into them, the rims themselves are flat, no taper. The lugs are also 9/16". Chevy rims may not fit the hub due to the center hole being just a little small.

There are people on a couple of those other threads I posted that said they got bad vibrations using coined rims until they switched to the newer style with flat hubs... so some people say you have to stick with them, other people say they changed and it was fine.
