Could someone tell me if a rim off a dodge 97 3/4 ton (8 lug) will fit my truck? (I'm looking at a set, I got pictures, and this is all the seller knows).
Thanks a million
Well the lug pattern is the same: 8 - 6.5 but on 3/4 and 1 tons the full floating axle hub is what centers the wheel and the lugs just hold it on - compared to semi floaters where the lugs do both jobs. Anyway I tell you this because I once switched my F350 wheels and tires with a friends 3/4 surburban wheels and tires but had a guy at a tire dealership tell us we shouldn't have done this because the wheel centers are different from chevy and ford. This didn't make sense to me because when you order aftermarket rims all you need to know is the lug pattern - not the vehicle make.
I think it was just one of those liability things where the guy didn't want to align ford wheels while they were on a chevy.
His rims were mickey tompsons and mine were stock and they seemed to work just fine...he wanted my stock tires for a long road trip instead of his 36s but we switched em back because we figured...however bogus it sounded...to not run the trip on ford wheels.
So I don't see a problem with it but do it at your own risk.
just my $.02
Very interesting. I have heard that there was a difference between stock chevy and ford rims and you shouldn't interchange..but no one could ever say why (they would say "thats just what I heard"!)
I wonder where the dodge rims fit in?
By the way if anyone has rim questions like I did go to NTWONLINE, they have a rim fitment guide which pretty much covers all trucks.
