Recently, my trucks fuel pump went out and i just got around to replacing it. At the time, i didn't know it was the fuel pump cause it literally just stopped working one day while i was driving. I thought the fuel tank splitter was going out, but it wasn't. I decided to bypass the splitter and put in the new fuel pump. Well truck started right up and idled well. Then the choke kicked off.
Now the truck won't idle right and seems like the engine is being flooded with fuel. I thought this maybe because i bypassed the tank splitter. So i hooked it back up with new hoses and clamps and started it up and same result.
Now i'm not sure what is causing this. I had replaced the fuel filter in the line as well and all the rubber hoses going to the tanks are new, but that's all that has changed. Any Ideas.
Before the fuel pump went out, the truck was running great. I didn't adjust the idle mixture or anything after it went out.
Need some ideas quick cause i gotta move in 2 weeks and it has to run by then!!!
Let me know what you guys think. Here's an idle video with the problem i'm having.
My 73 started idling almost as rough as yours. The carb needed to be rebuilt in mine...accelerator pump was totally messed up and the carb was gunked up pretty bad. Should have mine back up and running tomorrow.
On my computer I heard the audio but there was no video (?).
Do you have a stock carb, or by chance do you have an Edelbrock?
I know Eddys don't like fuel pressure over 5 1/2-6 PSI. Could be the new fuel pump is overpowering the float.
