Welcome crazyfordguy! Lots of good folks here who know more than I do about these problems, but maybe I can hit some really simple things. Let's face it, even a stopped close is right, twice a day. First and most simple, have you checked the fuses? Also, have you tried running a jumper from the battery to the positive in on the motor, with the negative in grounded to confirm that the motor works? Two easy things to check that will help narrow down where to search for answers.
Good luck.
ya. i ran a jumper and the motor works fine. i couldnt find a fuse however it turns out that the switch has a built in cicut breaker. i ran all the tests and its fine. i think my hot wire is shot but i dont know witch one it is. i know the wire comes from the key but i cant trace it. the truck is an XLT with a rotary switch so i dont know if that would make a difference

Reason: forgot
the farthest back that i can trace that black/green wire is where it enters the wiring harness by the switch. i cant seem to find it anywhere after that.
The ignition switch is located at the bottom of the steering column behind the dash. It's bolted to the top of it.
The wires doesn't actually enter or go up the column. The Ignition Lock has a metal actuating rod that goes down the length of the column that connects the two components.
It's not easy to reach without dropping the column off it's dash support.
That thread that CTUBUTIS is pointing you to has some great information in it.
