i have a problem with my 89 aerostar van , the problem is :
the pass. side window only goes up . the switch on the drivers side and the pass side only make the window go up , NO DOWN
i even put new motors and one new switch in . i dont even have the motor in the regulater and it still turns only on way . please help . the drivers side works fine thou.
i think maybe a relay for down or a broken wire in the hinge area might be the problem, i even heard that the double switch on the drivers side might make both sides not work. thanks matt

Sounds like you have a bad connection from the switch(es) to the down side of the motor. Since it affects both switches, I would assume that the break is after the switch(es). Check the motor connector and see if you have power to both sides depending on which way you push the switch... Just a suggestion.

I had the same problem with my 93. Spent many hours and a few dollars replacing what I thought was bad switches, trying to figure out just what the problem was.
Turned out to be a bad wire that ran from the drivers side switch to the passenger side.
Figured it out when I had the motor out, thinking it was the problem. Jumped a wire from the battery to check the motor's running in both directions, no problems with the motor.
Used a test lamp to read the wires out. You'll want one that has the light in the body with the sharp point to get into the wire jacket.
After I figured out it was the wire, I just clipped it and ran a new one. To much trouble to trace it under the dash. Window works great now.
Hope this helps out and saves you a few $$$ as well.
