I had a leak in one of the fittings to the filter plate. PPM sent a new kit out with a prepaid return shipping label for the old one. I returned it and recieved 2 free filters for the hassle. The 2nd kit has been leak free and I am satisfied. I could have a problem tomorrow but at this time I would buy again at the price I paid for the kit. As a side note, I cut the filter open and did not even have a grain of sand in the filter after 500 miles. I changed the coolant at around 50,000 miles and 6 years.
I remember that big stink. What made it stick in mi mind
and the rep sort of loosing it. But that was on both sides.
The fix here is if your going to post flame bait read it 3 or 4
times and by the last reading it still sounds HOT dump it and
go cool off for a few hrs. This is the real down side to E-communications
You don't think as well as you should. Bam you send some thing that later
you wished you could take back or lessen to some degree.
PerformanceMachMFG You just need a few more posts to be able to PM
I am not sure what the minimum number is.
I cut 1.5" off of the line connecting to the Degas bottle for a better fit.
That's what I should have done, but it bugged me. If I cut the hose to fit and added a splice with screw clamps, it defeated the purpose of choosing the clean look of crimped fittings. My other line was much too long. I'll look at rerouting it thru the a/c pipe and see if that helps.
I'm not trying to pile on PPM, I've got no axe to grind. I'm only telling you what I expected from their ad and what I actually got in the mail. It's a premium filtration kit. I think PPM has a superior design over the competition with the silicone hoses and crimped fittings. It just failed to be a "custom fit" with the hoses as my picture shows.

The hose that attaches to the Degas bottle doesn't have the compression fitting...it just slides on and a clamp holds it on.
The only problem I had with my Performance Machine coolant filter was the hoses were cut the wrong length (too long). I could have trimmed them to fit, but that would have defeated the crimped fittings.
As you can see the hose across the fan shroud is a couple inches too long causing it to bow up. The hose to the heater (according to the instructions) is supposed to connect at the front of the heater hose next to the alternator. It was at least a foot too long and I wound up connecting it on the other end next to the heater valve at the back of the engine.
Not too happy about having a coolant hose laying across my turbo pipe. Other than that, I like it.
Let me know how much shorter you would like the hose running across the shroud to be and we will make you one up. The main reason for the extra length is so you can eliminate the ball valve should they ever be an issue with it, but we also want everyone happy so if you would like just give me a length and we will get you taken care of. When you decide how long you want it shoot an email to fred@performancemachinemfg.com
Clearly I did not begin that thread with the intent of causing a "huge stink". I did contact them prior to posting my findings and was advised a new part would be in the mail ASAP (which I did advise in my first post). I posted about the problems I had with the coolant filter unit so that others possibly buying the product verified that their filter mated up with the filter base. Had I not caught that myself I would have been driving along spewing coolant. Kind of a big deal. Situation was taken care of and my replaced unit has been fine.
By no means am I referring to you, you said nothing wrong. The person I am specifically speaking of, basically said everything about the kit was **** poor and we machined it wrong, never going to seal, blah blah blah.

10-4 on that. Just read that way when I saw the post. Things have been running well as far as the PMM coolant filter setup goes. One thing that I did was drill a couple holes in the shroud area just enough to zip-tie a couple areas of the hose to keep it down. Seems to have worked fine in dressing it up a little bit. Just an idea for those looking to secure things a little better.
You Sound like a good guy Fred. Customer service is one of the keys to any business. Take a look at BulletProof Diesel. They have a very expensive product. But even though "I think" its the best fix all kit in the market, their customer service really is great. If their customer service was poor, they would have a hard time selling even at a significantly lower cost. You got my business PerformanceMachMFG
did you give away those 2 kits yet? I own and operate a repair shop and maintain a fleet of 6.0 ambulances, also do a lot of 6.0 work in general and own one.
I would be glad to take one off your hands and give it a try. You can either PM me, or shoot me an email and I will give you my address.
Fred, I don't believe you need to GIVE away any of your coolant filter kits. I think you have enough testimonial here that your product is obviously trustworthy and does not need to be "proved". I think you were a bit eager in trying to make amends for a post that was made by a disgruntled customer in haste previously in the year. I have your product and there is no issue... especially baring in mind the price for which it was purchased.

I like the way you have those routed. I'm going to switch mine that way.
