quick question. before i installed my new exhaust on my truck i had ordered a chip from TW and it was tuned for the stock system since i have installed a 3" DP to 4" straight pipe and 5" stack. i'm curious as to how much i may be hampering power and mileage by not retuning it
i was just curious. i'm wanting to do some other mods and was kinda waiting til i did those to do the reburn. just didnt know if i might need to take it off in the mean time depending on if it would cause problems or not
that does bring up another curiosity. in yalls opinion what should be the next mod on the list. i'm a tractor mechanic by trade and i know how to build those motors to make more power but i'm a little timid on how far to push it when it comes to what i drive down the road everyday
The stock internals on our motors are good for 500+ hp, so unless your making it a monster and plan on streeting it you can push it as far as you want. Make sure you do supporting mods first before any major power adders, ie: push rods, valve springs, head studs, HPOP, Tranny/clutch, single mass flywheel, etc.
thanks for the info i'm glad to know i can get a fairly decent amount out of them. i wasn't planning on going that big for at least a few more years. theres just too many choices when it comes to mods makes it hard for me to decide. whats wrong with my k&n
i have seen that happen in tractors before and cause turbo replacement, over boring, resleeving etc. i didnt know k&n was bad about letting dust through.
I haven't noticed any dust gettin past it but it still makes me nervous cause I know it can be pricy when a motor gets dusted. I recently rebuilt a tractor motor that had been dusted and it hurt me to call the guy and give him the estimate
I'm one who had the wheel dusted by the k&n. I didn't do any internal damage to my motor, but the turbo needed a new wheel and rebuild kit. I checked my turbo just a couple weeks ago, and its been 3 years since the new wheel and rebuild. New 6637 then too. It looks perfect, just like when I put it back on.
