Not being argumentative - just pointing out the folly of asking vague questions without any details that are useful - the most basic of which is "What the heck are you talking about?"
Intent and perception are independent of each other and if, as you claim, you didn't mean to be argumentative, then please add smilies!
I'd say you probably have a bad EMTC (control head).
The workshop manual has a long, drawn out manual diagnostic procedure to pinpoint faults. Unless you want to guess about the fault, a technician probably needs to follow that diagnostic process.
I went out and pulled the mode motor off, I turned the system on and the motor turned, I also pulled the actuator cam off and moved the arms manually. They both moved freely and both had a nice solid thud at stop. I put it all back together and it made no difference, still no control over airflow direction. I will buy a switch and motor and see what I get.
If anyone has any input feel free to pass it along.
Ok so I finally got around to replacing the mode motor, this controls the direction of airflow, now I can select which direction the heat comes out. Problem solved.
