Problem with overdrive light blinking

My overdrive light has been blinking. I have scanned the codes and they are p0782 p0781 p0732 p1247. I was wondering if it will need a complete overhaul or if if the problem is something I can fix.

The truck is a 2002 F450 7.3 diesel with about 120k Miles.

Thanks I appreciate your help.

EDIT: the truck has been shifting hard from 1-2 2-3 it also only shifts when it gets near the red line at about 3800 rpm. I believe it does go into second. It might skip it though. When the transmission cools and i restart the truck the truck seems to run fine no hard shifting.

EDIT: ADDED CODE p1247 to code list.

think this has something to do with wire shaffing, in the steering column. My buddy just replaced thee entire shift assy with oem (80 buks at dealer). His was popping the dash fuse. Removed the shifter assy and found wires freyed. I'm sure you can tape up the shaffing and be done with it.

Would you happen to know what fuse it was. Thanks I will check the steering column in the morning

if you got the manual, its in there, but no i dont, its a 10amp though, underthe dash, beleive it was the middle row, 2nd from the bottom fuse. The fuse controlled the dash cluster, (CA) GP relay module, and i want to say the TPS (throttle position sensor), since he had no response withthe bad fuse.

Ok. I checked the steering column and found that the cable coming from the Shifter was a bit shaffed. It did not trip a fuse so I dont know if this may have been my problem, but I have covered it with some electrical tape and am hoping that was the problem. When i tried to make a short the overdrive light turned on. The problem only appears after about 1.5 hours of driving so I will check if that was the problem. I would have guessed if I had a bad transmission I would have the problem all the time and not just after 1.5 hours of driving. Thanks for your help.

I was thinking the VSS too, but mine reads the speed correctly. Or does it not matter? I might replace it because it is about 30$ to replace anyway.

I was wondering if you could help me locate the VSS. Where is it on the truck? Thanks.

Ok so It was not the chafing that caused the issue. Will try to replace the VSS sensor. It only seems to do it when it warms up so I don't really know what could be wrong. It won't shift into 2nd when it does this.

I see two sensor types.

F85Z-2L373-AB - abs sensor which is on top of the differential
F810-7M101-AA - this is the transmission speed sensor which i think is located on the transmission

If you have a Non-PTO tranny the 2 sensors on the tranny are interchangeable. The TSS on a PTO tranny is a different length.

TSS - Turbine Speed Sensor , OSS - Output Shaft Speed sensor.

With those P7XX codes I think you have more problems than a bad sensor.

Replaced the VSS and the truck still seems to shift hard and the overdrive light started blinking after about 5 minutes of driving. DO i need to clear the codes off the PCM? or is it another problem?

Putting aside the codes for a moment to check off the basics, how is the trans fluid level and condition? Do you have a trans temp gauge and what does it show?

The temp guage on the truck reads normal. Not hot nor cold.

The trans fluid is red and smells like the new fluid reads at the appropriate level. No dirt in the trans fluid, but i have not removed the pan.
