I want to once again thank everyone for their advice and pics of the procedure. I now have to go and get the harness for the light, it will probably be next week before I can go and get one. Hope everyone had a great weekend.
After thinking about it, I think I am going to take Shaun's advice and not only get the harness for the map lights, but install a cargo light for the back of the cab as well. If I am going to be taking the trim out of the interior I may as well go ahead and do the cargo light while it is all apart.

Luckily, the cargo light socket is integrated with the dome/map light harness, so all you need to do is cut the hole in the back of your cab. If you grab the harness, make sure you measure the cargo light hole on any of the 1980-1991 F-Series trucks in your junkyard so you can transfer those measurements over to your truck.

Finding the Cargo Lamp Housing for a 1992 or 1993 without third brake lamp, has a better rubber gasket around the Cargo Lamp Housing than the 1980-1991 counterparts. The Housing is identicle, but the rubber gasket is much improved, 1992/1993 etc...
