4R100 pan bolt count

I want to replace the VSS on my '02 F250 XLT SuperCab 4WD (7.3L PowerStroke). The parts store says there's different part #s depending on the number of pan bolts on the transmission. Aside from crawling under the truck and physically counting the bolts, is there another way to determine the number of pan bolts? (i.e. VIN)

It's probably worth mentioning that the VSS is located in the differential housing of the rear axle. You might want to try a different source for your parts....
