Do you have any resources with info on this? It was my understanding that it was only for emissions and only really helped while the engine was below operating temperature. I don't know of any true racecars that use EGR systems.

I'm not 100% sure now about the power gains, I think it just helps with mileage.
It does so by reducing pumping losses, from what I read.
The engine is able to run less vacuum because it's also inhaling exhaust.
I got a 96 caprice classic I gotta get running, someone put dual exhaust in, and moved the exhaust sensors to the new pipes, without and CAT or mufflers, so I get the engine light all the time, and crummy fuel mileage... I Frickin hate emissions regs !!!!
