axle swap tone ring?
I have a 95 f150 ext cab flairside 4x4,I am going to put a 36 inch lift on it with 2.5 ton rockwell military axles and 52 inch michelan tires (d.o.t. approved). I was told certain years used the speedometer sensor in the transfer case tailshaft. I belive my speedometer works off the tone ring in the 8.8 inch rear axle along with the a.b.s. If this is the case if i mount the tone ring on the
rear axle pinion along with the sensor can the spedo be reprogramed enough to compensate, the axle gears are 6.72 to 1 so tone ring will be spinning 6.72 times faster than before. any ideas?

Uhhh, wow. I know there is a calibration number you can get to in the dash by pressing the select/reste buttons in a certain order, but no idea if they can compensate that far. Ford prolly didn't give the computer the range to cover that much of a speed difference in the tone ring. Why bother? Just get an aftermarket speedo, like autometer or something? Sounds bad-a$$ though!
