Ball Joints

Can someone tell me how much it should cost to do upper and lower ball joints on my Ex. I'm new to this forum, I usually hang out in the 6.0 world.

Really depends.

Get upper and lower, both sides for about 250 or less, plus new seals.
Rent ball joint press--free with deposit + about 8 hrs your time, which will include cleaning and lubing parts as you take them off = knowings things are done right.

Or pay some one at shop rate about 800 to install plus parts.

I had a shop do my Excursion last summer cause I was in a pinch, cost me a cool $1100.00.

I did my pickup myself and was on a budget and used O'Reilly brand ball joints (same part # as Moog). Not sure if it was a good move yet or not....

I had moog ones installed in my X about a year and a half ago. cost me almost $1200 including alignment. Well, almost one year to the week, I was changing my tires and notices that my l/s lower was smoked bad. I found that the XRF ball joints WAY CHEAPER and are much better and found out that moog has gone downhill in quality. The moogs were under warranty but, I didnt want to take the chance in another year that they are bad again. Total cost to replace the left side upper and lower was $250. The balljoints were $54 for the 1 upper and 1 lower.I would definately go with them over any moog product again.

I used XRF also, and haven't look back. Been about a year now and no issues. Lots of km's since being replaced, and when off road I don't baby things, so I know they are holding up well.

XRF all the way.

I got the kit and did it all. Ball joints, drag link, adjusting sleeves, tie rods.

link to The Tire Club

Just remember to get them moving on the bench with a shot of grease before installing or else they are sticky when new.

I must be looking at the wrong stuff on tireclub.
The Tire Club
The ball joints in this listing are Moog part numbers.
My truck is at a repair place that was going to put on Moog and I told them I'll bring this XRF stuff in and pay more for labor.
He looks it up on tireclub and tells me its the same part number he was going to order for Moog stuff.
And it is: MOOG-K8607T Front Lower Ball Joint Made By MOOG

Is tireclub sending something different than the listing?

UPDATE A FEW MINUTES LATER: Was looking at a generic page for Super Duty. Found the XRF stuff after putting my truck info in the drop down menu.

2nd UPDATE: I take back what I jumped to in my first update.
On the correct XRF part listing it still shows Moog part numbers.

So how is it better buying a Moog part from XRF? Do they do something to these parts?

B, I called XRF and amazingly there was a dealer about 15 minutes from my house. He had them in stock. Just checked them a couple days ago while checking the brakes. Not even a bit of movement. Still am so glad I went this way.

Oh the company is not in Canada. One site kept me pointing to them but I kept looking and calling until I found the right number.

XRF uses the same part number strings as Moog does, but they are different animals altogether.

Here is the XRF online catalog. Put in your vehicle and you will see the similarities in the numbers.

Select Year

Ingalls uses similar numbers also. Ingalls Engineering Co., Inc. Joint

Thanks for the explanation.
I got the shop to order the ball joints from Tireclub this afternoon. Told him lets order them and install and I'll seek explanation here tonight.
I figured there must be a difference from Moog or someone would have figured it out by now.
Gotta admit its pretty nice to have a shop that will order parts you would get at home online and install.
I'll update after install.
Thanks for your time and experience everyone - that's what we're here for
