Center console

This is a card board and masking tape mock up of the console I'm building. It will be built with 1/8" thick steel and the removable top panel will be bolted on with stainless steel screws, and house any buttons, switches, gauges, or whatever. Inside the console, mounted to the sides will be three terminal strips with 12 terminals each. One will be for constant power, one for negative, and one for switched power. Where my brake controller is sitting will be where it mounts, and there is room to mount something else to the other side of the shifter. Maybe some extra power points or a small CB or something.
Remember, this is just a card board mock up. The finished product will look much better. I got some textured black paint with grey specks in it to paint it with, but I'm thinking about maybe covering it with black automotive carpet that I have. What do ya think?

Oh......and don't make fun of my old school camo seat covers, they're just on there to keep my seats clean! LOL!!

Dude, I love it, but make it out of kydex!

You can buy matching grey color for you interrior, just heat it up and bend it around a form, will be lighter and easier to modify.

If I build it with the steel, then maybe I could get some of that later and use the steel console for the form. I thought about trying to use some kind of plastic or something, but I have access to the steel now. What exactly is kydex?

I think it should have cup holders. I got a large drink at taco bell the other day and the lady handed it to me through the drive through window and I set it in the cup holder in the seat. well as I pulled out of the drive through that full cup of mountain dew flipped out of the cup holder and hit the floor and completely emptied its contents all over the floor. i was pissed and it made me think I should build a floor mounted counsel with deep cup holders just like yours.

Quit getting them darn 72 oz drinks then Ken!

I like it Bill! May be a few too many switches and crap for a cupholder though. I'd probably spill and short out the whole truck!

Dont mess with women in my family then, they all can shoot well. Even my grandma at 80 something shoots better than me.

Wanna know the scary thing? Girls can shoot better at a quicker pace then men can.
As men, we have to try harder, because they have better fine motor skills at some things.

Grug Smash!

Kydex is a thermoform plastic.

They use it in space shuttle and air planes and all sorts of other things.

I'll post some pictures of my holster I just made here in a little bit.

Back to this little project tomorrow evening. Took care of some other things this evening and didn't work on it.

There is a saying in the shooting community. "If you can shoot like a girl....DO!"

I like the idea for the console Bill. I'm looking forward to seeing it when it is done. I think making one out of stainless and then jeweling the surface would be awesome!

I like the console Bill.

My ex girlfriends sister won a national title shooting completion at the age of 17...against the armed forces shooting squads to boot. She was recruited by the army shooting team and was quite successful. We went to see her shoot up at the big competition at Camp Perry, Oh and I was thoroughly impressed. 1000 yards with no scope. They were allowed to use a field glass to spot where the rounds went, but actual shots were put on without a scope. I can't even see 1000 yards. Let alone put 10 rounds in a grapefruit size grouping and that didn't even let her place that particular time.
