I've had this train horn for about six years and I've had it on a couple trucks ( only diesels, didn't seem right on anything else LOL ) and I finally got it mounted under my truck this evening. I'm using a 7 gallon portable air tank in the tool box and I just keep it full with shop air. I've still got to get the solenoid wired to a push button in the cab, so I'll post some pics tomorrow when I get it done. I know it's not a big deal, but I love that horn. I've had loads of fun with it and I think they're cool crap!
Hornblasters has complete sets for around $500. Just cant bring myself to spend $500 for a toy, although im sure i could get $500 worth of fun out of it.
I didn't get it finished, but here's some pics of where I mounted it and the air tank and line in the tool box. Tomorrow I'm gonna try to build a console between the seat and shifter. That's where I'm gonna put the button for the horn, any switches for lights or what ever, and mount my brake controller to it also. I'll take pics of it when I get it done.
Now you just need a compressor to keep the tank charged.
Yep, one day I'd like to do on board air, but for now I'll just keep filling it with shop air. I can blow the horn several times on a full tank of air, but it would be nice to have a compressor for other stuff too.
I would like to eventually, that would be cool to have on board air. I have the viair compressor in mind when i get one. I will prob just do what you are doing tell then. It would be nice to get on board air along with an inverter.
