Do you have the electronic climate control or the manual *****? Wouldn't hurt to check fuse #23 if it's in there. My Lariat doesn't have the automatic/electronic climate control. But I don't remember if it was an option for the Lariat or if it was only the KR that year. Do you have all the fan speeds or only high & off?

I see what you are getting at..I have all the speeds, like 3 or 4, on the ****, so fuse 23 would not be in use.
I think I ll just bring it in and have it checked. Even if I do figger out what the problem is, I do not have the ability to repair it.
I had the same issue last summer, ended up having the entire system replaced under warranty. Dealer claimed system was compromised and full of grit and dirt. $1500 job and I paid $220 out of pocket.

I was wondering if the heat sink for the fan had gone out. On some vehicles, when it goes bad it will keep the A/c compressor from cycling...since the heat sink is usually in the blower box for cooling. I know in the past when it goes, regardless of make/model you loose the intermediate speeds and only have high/full speed and off.
But I think your on the right path, take it to someone that has all the tools/knowledge to handle a/c systems.
Brought truck in today for AC repair. Found out that the hose in the pic that runs beside the radiator(underneath the coolant filter) had a hole in it from rubbing against the radiator shroud. He hooked up the machine and found out real fast about the hole. He put a repair "link" on the hose that you can see in the pic, let the system "de-atmosphere" for 40 minutes, and recharged.
Wow! What a difference recharging makes! It gets cold FAST compared to before the hose repair.
