Last week the ac in my truck stopped blowing on max. it blows fine on normal, but when i switch it to max it stops. the fan is still running but the air doesnt come out anywhere. Any ideas what it could be? 1999 F250
A cheap and easy possible fix would be to change your blower speed control resistor. If that doesn't get it try pushing and wiggling on the blower power connector. Have a helper tell you if the fan kicks on. I had a bad connection inside the blower recepticle and a new blower motor curred mine.
Only one thing changes between normal A/C and MAX (and it ain't the blower motor).
There is a vacuum operated door right up behind the glovebox that is supposed to switch position (open vent to interior) when the motor gets vacuum in MAX. The only thing that makes sense is that the cabin air inlet is blocked, perhaps by a plastic bag or something similar.
Turn the fan to high with engine off, open the hood and on passenger side of engine compartment under the gutter you will see blower housing with big plug going in. Push the plug in and try to move it a bit sideways.
Check the vacuum line that runs to the heater valve. Mine slipped off and the a/c would barely come out the vents on Max. I was sure I had a 4x4 leak and needed new seals. My mechanic fixed it in 20 seconds.
