Good afternoon. I just wanted to get some opinions from you guys about my recent decision to trade in my 2008 F250 6.4 with Spartan tune, CAT/DPF delete, and AFE intake. Yesterday I finally did it. I have been thinging about the swap for about 3 months now and finally traded in my diesel for a 2012 F150 FX4 Screw Ecoboost. So far I absolutely love the truck. Im worried that I will miss the power and sound of the big diesel, but it is kinda nice being able to actually hear the radio when driving now . I think the Ecoboost has plenty of power for the towing that I do, which is normally between 6K and 8K (maybe once per month). Most of my driving is around town and back and forth to work. Any opinions or suggestions? Has anyone else made this swap? Thanks!!
I bought the Ecoboost SCrew also. BUT instead of trading in a diesel I bought it instead of a diesel.
We have an RV and will tow it a few times per year. I did not want the fuel and maintaince cost of a diesel for a few times a year to tow a trailer. The Eco boost replace my 2006 F150 Screw just fine!! And now, no Diesel expenses.
The sound is definately not there, but like you say. I can live with that.
Hi there! I've sold quite a few tuners for the Ecoboost and the reviews have been quite positive. Here's a thread I started with real world reviews from prior customers and if you scroll down there's additional information such as dyno graphs. On a stock Ecoboost with the pre-loaded tune, it has an increase of 51 hp at the wheels and 108 feet of torque.
I traded in my 03 6.0 with complete Banks kit and exhaust. I loved that truck and it never let me down in 126K miles. But I have to say that I am loving my new truck just as much, I only tow maybe once a month so the 1/2 ton is all I need and it has plenty of power in stock trim. The engine is very quiet and you can't beat the smooth ride. Enjoy
I just sold my 06 F350 6.0 and ordered a F150 Eco, Max tow. Going to miss the extra torque of the diesel but not much else. The ecoboost should pull my 5000# snowmobile trailer just fine.
Thanks for all the replies. I think I will be pretty happy with my decision, as it seems none of you regret swapping from a diesel. Is anyone running aftermarket exhaust, intake, or tuner? Im worried that a tuner would void my warranty. I think I may be better off leaving the truck stock. I don't think I will have any problems towing with the truck the way it is. The power is pretty amazing stock, and even more amazing that is is a V6!!!
I had one on order, and when it came in, it lacked the Heavy Duty Payload option. I opted for a 2010 F-250 Harley 6.4L that was traded in instead. I average 16mpg for my driving and figure once I see some realistic consistent numbers on the EcoBoost for daily drivers that hits close to the 18-20mpg mark, I will look at an EcoBoost again.
Threads like this interest me, and I watch them close.
I did the same with no regrets. After 159,000 flawless miles on the 07 6.0 Powerstroke I opted to get a used Screw with the max tow, 6.5 bed, 4x4 Ecoboost. The fuel economy is wonderful, the power is like driving my old 78 460 powered F150. Tows my 8500 lb trailer with no sweat. Other than the crappy Goodyear tires I am totally satisfied with the trade.
