I was having to jump the truck most times, although I wasn't driving it much. Pulled the batteries, there were from 2008 (I didn't know, I bought the truck used) so I pulled the alternator as well and went to Auto Zone for testing. All failed, so out the door $400 lighter. Installed the new batteries and alternator, went to crank - nothing. No click-click of a not-quite-enough-juice battery, just nothing. When the key is in the accessories on position, there is a rapid electrical clicking noise - it wa doing that with the old batteries and now the new. Leave it in the accessories on positiion and it eventually stops. But before it would turn over, now it won't. Hooked up scan gauge and it said No Response.
Uh oh? I didn't try tapping the starter yet I guess.

Have you checked the ignition switch? Sounds like it's not getting or putting out 12V.
Turn on your headlights and see if they go on?
Also check the interior dome lights, I suspect they all go out/blink
along with that noise because that's the symptom of a weak battery
or connection.
I suspect you don't have a good connection @ the new battery(s).
Well, interior lights do come on as do dag indicators when in the accessory on position, but when tuning the key further to crank the engine there is no click or half turnover - nothing. I am not familiar with the double battery wiring - completely in series? Or is one for cranking and the other for accessory type stuff?
Turned out to be a theft code, I guess that was tripped because I pulled both batteries? What is frustrating is I have a scangauge II and it showed nothing, but when hooked up to someone's laptop running scantool it showed the theft code and could be cleared.
It was very frustrating. Is there something unique about my truck or does everyone's theft code get set when both batteries are pulled?
I haven't ever pulled both batteries but I'm surprised your Scangauge II wasn't able to clear the code. I wonder if you just told it to clear all codes if it would work even though it wouldn't display it?
Even though my Banks IQ also has standard "code reader" capability, I'm happier every day since I bought the AutoEnginuity from RiffRaff...
