coolant level dropped

In the 15 months I've owned this truck, the coolant level has never changed. It was always just slightly below the max line. Today I popped my hood and the level is right in the middle of min and max. This was with a cold engine. I drove it to 194 degrees, turned off the engine, checked again and still in the same spot.

I have no smoke out the exhaust, no residue of puking on the degas bottle, and a 4-5 degree delta. Could the recent weather be a factor? (97-103 degrees every day the past week). If not, what do you think is my problem?

On the passenger side of the engine right above the 2 middle injectors check the vacuum valve that cuts off the coolant supply to the heater core when you turn your air conditioning to max. You will see whitish/yellowish crusty crud running down to your starter if its leaking.

Drove the truck home from work and checked it and now its back up to where it used to be. Not sure what caused it to be so low earlier but its back now so I guess everything's good

I seriously have never met a more paranoid bunch, than educated 6.0 owners.

And I'm one too!! A few weeks ago I had my hood open (ya know... cause I own a 6.0) and there was no coolant in the degas bottle. I almost had a heart attack. Upon closer inspection, I found that it was not registering on the bottle because it was TOO FULL. I almost had a second heart attack. No oil in the coolant, just too full. Oil level was fine and oil was clean. Spent a few minutes going through the logic in my head how this was possible. My only conclusion was that there might be an air bubble in the system. I grabbed the upper radiator hose and gave it a few compressions and watched the huge bubbles blow out the degas as it slowly brought the level back to normal. I hate living in fear.

While this doesn't always apply, the degas bottle is bigger than you think. Thus if the truck is pointed nose down it may appear fuller than normal.

And you think we're paranoid...the 6.4L guys are just as bad if not worse.
