I have a 76' F150 that from the passenger side looks like it is bending in two between the cab and the engine. I know that the Passenger door has been replaced and that it was not put on very well but even after realigning the door it still looks off. Any ideas on what could be happening here? It doesn't do it on the drivers side.
It's all about tools man. If you have the proper tools it can be easy to replace. At the very minimum you are going to need a sawzall and mig welder. Impact wrench to get the bolt out. It will not be a fun job, but it can be accomplished.
There are some great threads on the board about changing body mounts. There are certain methods that will make life a lot easier. Try doing a search on "body mounts" or "cab mounts".
When I swapped in the urethane mounts thru out the truck, the front mounting platforms had rotted out in a perfect little circle the same size as the rubber mount. The rest of the frame piece was great so I just welded in a little steel disc, drilled out the hole and viola! (heh) Perfect to this day. Had the same sagging deal going on that you're describing. Keep an eye on the thickness of the mounts if you are replacing them-these weren't marked front and rear-the thicker ones go in the rear of the cab, makes a huge difference in the solidity of the truck, truly huge...
The urethane mounts and bushings thru out make it nice and tight like a more modern truck, they come with a special thumbnail grease to prevent squeeks and trapping moisture, when we combined it in the front end and got that new u-joint for the armstrong steering it felt oh so good, I don't want no mush ride anyway, I drive a truck so I can stay awake!! Look into the c-clamps for the radius arms and the control arm bushings and the rear shackle bushing for the full effect...but I digress...
