been wanting a set for awhile and have narrowed it down to 2 sets.....fatboy traction bars or a set from one up offroad....who runs any style of traction bars and how do you like them.....any pro's or con's to the weld on brakcets versus the bolt on brackets? the fatboy bars are cheaper about 500 bucks but im leaning towards the one up offroad set for about 1100....you get what you pay for....plus the OUO set can be adjustable and offers a variety of choices for the set you get.....anyone got any pics?
after watching this video im definitely getting a pair.....
i made a set, sorta like the ones in the video. cost me a saturday and like 100$? i ordered parts from ballistic fab. totally helped traction, im gonna modify them a bit and take pix this saturday.
I made traction blocks similar in design to OUO traction block setup. I wanted to make longer axle brackets but they work good enough for me. I will eventually change the front bushing design but it's what I had.
there like 6' long scedual 80 2" pipe, with a "Y" at the axle that keeps it from twisting. they work great, i might change some stuff, but for now there good enough you know. took like 2-3 tenths off my 60' and i dont get nasty wheel hop now too
two for each side and two ballistic fab sculls and made a box for the traction bars to mount to the axle. On my last truck that was my weak spot and they kept calling off the axle bc i did not have the rounded bracket. I believe the axle is 3.5 diameter.
for the frame mount i took a piece of square tubing and cut the middle out of one side, drilled holes through it, and welded it straight to the frame.
I do not have pictures of the mounts right now but can get them for you later if you like.

That's what I did, I have a set of 9/16" hole tabs with the 3.5" radius bottom, another set but the "boxed" version for the bottom, and ballistic fab also has a very nice set of (i guess controll arm mounts?) That I got for the forward mount. Everything is 9/16" hardware, and I got there 2" DOM sleeve poly bushings.
Don't forget to grind/sandpaper disk, ur axle till its shiny... Ur welds will look like hell if you only wire brush or wheel it. Mine did.

Seriously you said it correct. You get what you pay for. The One Up Offroad bars will allow your suspension to cycle like it was designed to do. Cool thing about them is they are not going to make any noise. There isn't even a joint in there that is going to clunk down the road. You won't have any shifting issues, the power will get transfered to the ground, you can still tow, your ride will get slightly better since your spring is not trying to resist the wrap load. They look as good as you can make a traction bar look... LOL
Seriously though, once you get them in your hands, you will see why you bought them. Well after you spend an hour or two getting them out of the packages.
They do have some newer videos... I don't know if you have spent time on their channel on youtube. I know I am guilty of that... LOL. It isn't too often that a suspension company will actually show detailed videos of their product working.
Another thing that is cool, if you feel like hitting up the drag strip, YOU CAN, or go sled pull YOU CAN, or go do some offroading, YOU CAN!!
