I guess I could do that easily enough, I liked the nylon spacer as well. I picked up a couple smaller sizes to see if they would work but I don't think they will. As far as being able to put the bezel/nut on and off the cable.
I didn't like trying to wrap the cable around like the original it looked really sloppy. Plus it was kind of hard to do.
