front clip removal tips

removing the front clip to perform some motor work (intake, timing set, cam, exhaust manifold, heads?, etc).

Does anyone have tips or suggestions as far as removal and or how/where to store it for a couple weeks?

Count the shims you find for things like the fenders and radiator support, making sure to record that info so you can get it back where it goes. And, note the lengths of the screws that come out of the grill and associated trim as the lengths and head color vary. Mark the hood where the hinges hit so you can get back to that point, although it will probably take some adjustment to get it exactly right. Ditto the hood latch.

The clip will come off in two pieces. The hood is the first piece. Remove it by marking and unbolting the hinges as Gary described. No need to unbolt the latch (you will need to disconnect the latch cable). The rest of the clip will come off in one piece. Disconnect any wires/hoses connected to things on the inside fenders and radiator support, and remove the battery and radiator. Drain the A/C and disconnect condenser hoses if equipped. Next unbolt the upper and lower fender bolts, the two fender bolts from inside the door jambs, and two lower radiator support mount bolts (count the shims), and the two bolts that tie the inner wheel liners to the frame. Then get a buddy and lift the whole assembly off. As far as storage for a short time goes, just put it on a tarp on a section of dry ground. Its been a couple of years since I did it last, but that should cover it.

All good advise above. But, you really don't have to remove the front clip to do what you described.

GLR is correct. You don't have to remove the front clip to do that work, but it sure makes things so much easier.
