DPFE Sensor

Duh 2001 F-150 4.6 Let me explain further, two weeks or so I cleaned anything and everything that had to do with the EGR system(within reason). I found a large build-up of carbon and crap. I thought that had the problem fixed. I disconnected the neg term. and was ready to go, I thougt! The light came back on the next morning Then I was reading here a little while ago and found about that little bit of reserve power the battery stored. I then went out and disconnected the neg. again and turned the key to delete the power that was stored. After waiting I drove it of and on for about an hour and so far no light . So I hope my problem is finally fixed. Still any advice is very appreciated. Thanks

Another Ques. - I just bought a 29ft travel trailer. I have some mountains around here and it is hard on my truck so I am looking to upgrade to a 2003 F-150 5.4. The camper weighs around 6000 lbs est. What are your thoughts?

DPFE Sensor

Dead PFE sensors are very common.
If you follow the EGR pipe from the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve on the driver's side of the engine you'll find 2 hoses going up from the pipe to the PFE sensor. It just has the 2 hoses and 1 connector on it.

Hi and welcome to the forum
Do you have a new DPFE already? The easiest would be to look at a new one and then look for your old one. It looks like this......

Thanks for the reply, I did buy it. Ford gave me the wrong one. So after a couple of hours feeling like an idiot because I couldn't find what they gave me, and seeing nothing like my engine in Haynes, I went back to the dealership, had the guy look under my hood only to find out its exactly like the one I see now in your picture. It took about a minute to put on and was $40 less than the first one they sold me, which I spent 2 hours looking for! We'll see if it solves the problem, wife just took it to the mall.

Light hasn't come back on yet. I am due for the first trans fluid change, so I will probably do that today.
