help identifying part
Hey guys,
anybody know what this is? You can see one of the little caps is missing from the top of the spring post. Must have been lost while cleaning and we haven't been able to find it anywhere.
It looks like the keeper is intact and I cant find a name or a part number for this thing anywhere. Does anybody know what this thing is called and its part number?

We've always called them valve caps. Don't confuse them with valve lash caps though, they won't fit the reduced stem that's at the tip.
Maybe try the dealer? If not, the junk yard is a good place to get them.

How about another pic, a bit further away. It's not uncommon for the valves to have a different type retainer for the intake and exhaust. Exhaust valves frequently have a retained designed to promote rotation of the valve, to help cut down on "hot spots" that can lead to a burned valve.
