I have seen the intercooler tubing wrapped with insulation of some kind in alot of pictures under the hood on the diesels. Will this help keep egt's a little lower?Where is this available from? I have an early 99 F350,3.5 in downpipe,4in straight pipe,Super tunner 1705,and boost guage and pyro.
That wrap is to keep the air inside the pipes cool. Basically try and reflect the heat in the engine bay. You can order similar stuff from Jegs or Summit Racing Supply. If you want to get real crazy , you can have your pipes ceramic coated inside and out , this is the best barrier aginst heat....
Any place that does powdercoating usually does ceramic coating as well. Ask around your area and find a place that does work for racecars, and you will find your shop. Just make sure , when you get it done , to have them coat both the inside and outside of the pipe..
I had my headers , and full 4'' exhaust ceramic coated for my racecar and it was under 200 bucks...........
