Well, are you asking about what the factory tow rating of your truck is or what weight limit you have it registered for. These are two different things. The truck you own is not a 3/4 ton truck, it is a 1/2 ton truck, this rating is a payload capacity rating, not a towing capacity. You can not register a truck as a 3/4 if it not a 3/4 ton, but, depending on what state you live in and how the laws work, it can be registered with a weighted tag. In the state I live in you can have something like a 16,000 pound registration on your truck's tag which says that you are legally allowed to weigh 16,000 pounds when fully loaded and rolling down the road with a trailer. This rating is strictly for the DOT and a way for them to get more money from you, the more you weigh, the more damage you do to their roads and the more money your registration will cost. At least, thats how they look at it.
As was stated, look at your manual for what the factory rating is.
Forgot to mention, you will be looking for your Gross combined vehicle weight, which will be the weight of your truck and loaded trailer together. You have to subtract the curb weight of the truck from that number to get the weight that the truck is rated to tow. You should not be able to register your truck with a tag rating that is any higher than what the factory rating is. I dont think.
Someone tell me if I gave any bad info, it is getting late.

Good info, I will add that any person(s), cargo, gear, dogs in the truck as well reduce the load and trailer weight capacities.
