This afternoon while driving I noticed the fuel cap warning light was on. I checked the cap and everything was fine. I even filled the tank and made sure the cap was tight but the light is still on. Will the light go out after a certain number of start cycles or will I need to unhook the battery?
if i remember correctly, the only way to clear the light is to clear the code, and soft code.
disconnecting the battery may turn the light off, but it will not clear the soft codes
If it does not clear by itself, which I believe it should, then you need to test the cap. Might be a leaker, have a crack etc.
My smoggy guy was talking about how PO'd the Mercedes and BMW guys get when their fuel caps on their high dollar cars fail them on the smog test.....mildly amusing sometimes. Not so amusing when it's your cap...
