Just need to now, unbolt clutch and flywheel...Hey cookie, buddy came over and said same thing you did,...replace those bolts.

. I kept ur in 2nd and so on, to move the rig. Got to her mother's house, let sit for abit (b.s-ing with neighbor), and then left. Noticed this time, get'n to freeway, that ALL my gears were shifting perfect. Could it have been that the fluid was get'n hot, that caused the no shift problem?. Anyhow, got back to home, and read about NOT having all synthetic in tranny for fluid. We were leaving the following morning, so off to the auto store to get regular mercon V...(Chris..FL_250 i believe swore that no need for syn for his ride and he's banging at 400K+ miles). WELLL, woke up Sat morning, removed shifter, drained the fluid, re-installed plug, filled with 1qt of syn and 5qts regular. Got to Vegas, and bam, no 1st again, but WIFE notices now that my shifter is hit'n the underdash gauge pod (meant for auto, but "thought" i had enough room). So, went the next few days out there, when needed to drive, starting in 2nd. Came home Tues morning, and when pulled up to driveway, first thing i did was moved the pod to the left abit and down, enough to "clear" the 1st gear throw. With not having anything to lose, we left then to sisters' house (50miles away, with 15miles of city driving once off freeway). NOW, i dont know what might of happened, but all i can say is WOW. The tranny has 1st back, back enough that i can say, it feels like it should, the day you buy a manual truck. Every gear is smooth as silk, stays in all gears, no popping out like it did in 1st (which sounded like a granade going off)..etc, you guys get the point. Now the ? is, was it a combination of not nough throw in 1st and/or the fact that the new fluid just embedded into the synchros or something to that effect, allowing now for the gear/s to stay put in their respective places....I'm exstatic now, and hope (knocking wood here), that problems are gone.....BTW, BIGAL, that damn "howling" sound is STILL there, bud, at 13-1800rpm Think its inside the tranny, cause there nothing left to make that sound, lol
