Alright guys, cant procrastinate any longer. Parts..(clutch, m/s cylinder assy, fluid, input shaft repair kit), are collecting dust on my workbench. After yesterdays trip to the beach, i think my trans has about 1 mile left in it. Can not find R, and the rest of gears/shifting, i need to double clutch and/or rev up til shifter falls in place.
Now, the ?...with wanting to remove this beast by myself, i dont have the funds to drop $100+ on a trans "low" lift, but Autozone has a trans plate that affixes onto a jack. Does that sound promising? If so, then next ?/task, is how to go about it. Start dropping the driveshaft..(2wd, so thats good), then brace trans and remove bolts, prior to undoing the slve, and trans oil lines. You guys think if i can acquire an extra set of hands, would that be more of a safe route or just get'n in my way....again, info much appreciated.
While trans is down, found a company around corner from me, willing to resurface the flywheel for 40 buks. Thought, that wasnt bad.
Does the crossmember need to removed as well, for trans to be pulled back/removed..thanks again
I changed the clutch in my truck by my self, Jack stands on all four corners and get the truck as high as you can and still be safe. Just take your time and it will go smooth.
Deluxe, that adaptors' sweet. Gonna check to see if Grainger or McMaster-Carr sells them..(close by to house). Had this idea, if i was gonna need to spend some money to help aide in trans removal..
I've seen those at HF and would get one if I didn't have the one I have now. On another note don't for get to remove the shifter and cover up the hole with something to keep the dirt out that will fall while moving the trans around.
Found a guy here in Pomona, selling what you have for 50 buks, on fleebay. I'm going to Raging Waters (so passing thru Pomona), waiting on word back for a "will call"...
Thanks Rich, and will do keep updated. The adaptor guy never got back, probably took weekend off. Hopefully he hits me up tomorrow or atleast by Tuesday. head'n back to the waterpark. Think'n since i'm in there, might slap a set of FELPRO gaskets to the collector, since it'll be exposed.
I took mine out with two floor jacks, but I have a 4x4 which probably sits higher. If you are going to mess around with your up-pipes this is the time to do it. Also if you want to make an oil diverter tube to pipe any valley oil away from your clutch...
Not to get off topic, but how do you guys make this diverter tube? Mines auto, but would be nice to have stuff drain out a tube instead of all over everything.

Not off topic at all..i'd like to know also. I've/heard about it here, think its made with brass tubing.
Guy from Pomona asnt got back, but either way, for 50 buks, think i'll get it. Got a few other jacks too and some flat-plate metal laying around, i think i can fab something up...
hahaha...i agree. goin at it 1st thing in the morning. Would've started sooner, but its my week with daughter, and with summer, can not be truck-less....or its a good reason for procrastinating..lol
