HELLO TO YALL.
COULD SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME CAN I REPLACE THE AX4S TRANS IN A 2000
WINDSTAR WITH AN AX4N TRANS? ALSO WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO REMOVE & INSTALL TRANS IN THIS VEHICLE. THANKS FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE.

The trans comes out the bottom. It's a VERY involved swap! You need to remove the engine and trans together. The subframe has to come out, and then you lift the van off of the engine and trans. It's nearly impossible without a hoist.
IF you get the AX4S trans out and the AX4N trans in, you'll find that the computer in the Windstar won't operate an AX4N trans. You'll need to come up with a way to make the trans shift, which probably means you are going to need to develop your own computer. I don't think anyone makes one that does this.

THANKS FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE. I COULDNT FIND ANY INFO ON THE MODEL CHANGE. ALL THE DEALER COULD TELL ME WAS THAT NO 2000 MODS CAME WITH AX4N SO THEY DID NOT KNOW IF WOULD WORK. I COULD PROBABLY COMPLETE THE MECHANICAL PART, BUT I AM REALLY NOT FEELING TOO AMBITIOUS. THANKS AGAIN FOR THE INFO.
