Ok so I replaced the radiator today, put fords coolant and distilled water. Drove it for about 20 miles on the highway and it didnt get hot at all. However I know have noticed the when I turned the air conditioner on the a/c clutch is not kicking on or cycling. Anyone have pointers of where to start with this . I did check the fuse and it was fine. I had just replaced everything a/c related and have really only used it about 20 or 30 times.
If it has an overheat code it may disable ac . If low on freon it will not turn on if too low .
I put my little do it your self guage on there and it said the psi was about 100. I did unhook the battery to day when I was changing the radiator so that should have cleared any codes on it. However when it was getting hot it never got to the point to throw a code.
Then I would ck. power supply first . Easy at ac relay . Switch ac relay with horn relay or other similar relay and see if it works . If not ck powers , pressure switch , air gap , ect . Controll head if electronic . You can go straight to the compressor and ck for power and ground . A wiring diag. would be helpful . Sorry I ramble on so much . But many possible causes .

Ok I will switch relays and try that what is a control head, and how would I know if it is electronic? So pull the wire on the compressor and check with volt meter?
Controll head , ac controlls in cab . Are they digital ? or just ***** . The ac has to be switched on to ck power at compressor , engine running ! You can pin in with proper test leads safely . Try the relay first & ck All fuses . There may be one you do not know about . Do a visual of all ac component connections . Oh , glad you got your overheat fixed !
Not that this is going to solve the AC problem, I have read before that if you have overheated, best to change your oil afterwards.
I Did An Oil Change Right after I Replaced Radiator. Air Is Fixed It Was The Connection To The Compressor That Had Come LoOse. I Have Driven 200 Miles In Last To Days AndAc Is Running Great And No More OverheatinG. Thanks Everyone For The Advice.
Was not ready to chime in until you said that. I found a freeze plug in the block in mine. I have replaced pump, radiator, temp sensor, clutch fan, and even some other things. Glad you found your issue. Reps to FTE!!
