OK, I have to hook my smog pump back up to get it to pass emissions.
The PO used the bolt that attaches to the belt tension bracket as the battery ground attachment. This doesn't seem right especially since the pump is no longer just going to be sitting there taking up space.
Here's the question: Is there an established point of contact?
It seems to me that the old '69 302 I had it was attached at one of the exhaust manifold bolts.
Even if there isn't a established point I'd like to move it. Seeing it riding that close to a spinning belt makes me nervous. I'd even feel better if I moved to the attachment bolt at the top rear rather than the one on the bottom.
Allmost any place on the engine thats convenient for you. I like to use a bolt on the block i don't have to remove to work on some other part of the engine. Starter mounting bolt is a good one, then have another one from the engine block to the body. Can't get to many grounds ,more the better. I never did like using an exhaust manifold bolt because of the heat and rust, it can make removal hard later on.
