Groundwire mounting options

I am going to be replacing my battery ground wires soon, i was under the truck lookong at wherw the old wires mount too and i noticed it was a pain in the *** spot to get too.

My question is do i have to bolt them to the original spot or can i mount them somewherw else on the engine thats more easily accessible?

Would mounting thwm somewhere to the intake mAnifomd be okay? Or to thw the powersteering mounts?

Would this be sufficient enough to ground or does it need to go right to the block? Would mounting them to where the trNny mounts to thw engine work?

my 300 6 in my 82 broncos batteries r grounded to the bellhousing so woukd that be fine?

Thanks guys, Pat

The last thing you want to skimp on is battery grounding. This isn't a 180-psi gasser you're starting. Did you get a look at the size of the bolts used on them? That's not on account of any weight or clamping force required; those bolts are that big because of the current they have to carry.

There's so much room under these trucks, it should be easier to reach those ground points than most half-ton vehicles. How often are you going to be replacing the grounds? If you get good quality cables, they should last another 20 or more years. You have to get down there to remove them anyway.

Seems to me the tranny-to engine bolts would be harder to reach anyway, back by the firewall. Not to mention you'd have longer ground wires.

I'm going to have a slightly more... flexible opinion here:
Bolt it anywhere attached to the block that you can get a clean, solid connection. Make sure that you've got as much clean metal-to-metal contact as you can on the terminal.
You might be able to get away with connecting to the intake as long as you have a nice, clean bolt to hook it to. I wouldn't hook it to an exhaust bolt, though....

Once you get it hooked up, test it out with /one/ battery at a time. It should crank over just fine with one battery(unless it's -20F), if it doesn't you've either got battery problems or a bad connection.
