I did this, straite 4" stainless pipe from the turbo intake tube to the filter. Works pretty good, cost like $90 total and I imagine it out flows just about anything.

Yeah, coolest it gets is ambient temp. The difference is a cold air intake gets cooler outside air faster. The factory intake takes longer to pull in cooler air.

The difference for me was the sound. The drone of the 6637 on some roads drove me crazy, so a box seemed like the simplest solution.
If you're wanting cooler intake temps, couple the box with the zoodad mod. That will cool it down more than the box alone.
