Can somebody tell me what is the newest truck or car that i can find a C6 transmission trying to look for one in the junk yard hopefully we can find a good one for a straight swap with out having to open it this is for a friend thanks in advance.
sorry your confused Bill.... i can't do anything about that. I said NOTHING about a car.
The OP said he was looking for a straight swap... Is a car C6 and Truck C6 the same? i'm sure they have a different tail shaft... the shift linkage is different.
Hey guys I didn't mean to cause a conflict. but ND is right I was confused because i'm not familiar with all the differences on a C6, I thought they where all the same, that's why I posted I wanted to do a straight swap Thinking cars and trucks use the same transmission. So now what is a (Cruise-O-Matic) like I said I'm not as smart as you guys and I understand all of you are just trying to help, So don't forget we are all friends here Thank once again because I can count on all of you.
Most of the pickups 73-76 came with C6s if they were auto. You do want a truck C6 for your truck because of the shift lever position. When in park it will run along the pan joint. A or some cars hang down at a 45º angle.
Personally.........I always appreciate Number Dummy's input. It is very specific and takes the guesswork out of things.
Now for my confusion: my 69 came with a short tail C6, with a yoke. When I added a DN 2 speed, I needed to get a long tail without yoke from a newer truck. How does this come into play wiht the OP's search for a new trans?
Always a little bit confused anyway, Jeff
FE's were last used in '76. Going to the boneyard for a trans will result in finding a 36 yr. old, used trans. You already have one of those, why do you want another? Deluxe overhaul kit is less than $100.
