Gooseneck Camper?

Hey guys. I bought my 1992 F250 with a fancy pantsy gooseneck hitch in the bed. I dont have a gooseneck trailer nor will I prolly ever own one unless I get rich quick. The old Reese hitch mount works for me! Anyways, Iv been looking at some campers and started wondering if they make a gooseneck camper? Theres not much difference between a camper and a horse trailer in terms of looks and weight (depending on the size of each) so I would think a gooseneck camper is plausible. Iv only seen pics of them on Google and havent found one for sale. Do they actually make these or are they a homemade thing?

Any 5th wheel camping trailer can be made into a gooseneck hitch by changing the king pin on the trailer. I worked at a RV dealership for 20 years and we did this conversion when the customer had a gooseneck hitch in their truck.

Many RV manufacturers will NOT warranty their trailer if you use a gooseneck adapter! Check with your manufacturer.

I dont see how itll work though. A 5th wheel king pin is like 6 inches long. A Gooseneck is a few feet. That seems like itll jack it up in the front

Here's a photo (at the top of this page). Notice how long the adapter is. The height remands the same as with the Reese 5er.

I just had a customer order a goose neck adapter from me yesterday. The biggest customers are folks who have horse trailers or work trailers who are already towing goose neck and do not want to change back and forth between styles. They do put a load on the pin box, although I am not sure the load is much different with an extended pin box now becoming so common.

Normally for a goose neck adapter I knock about $25.00 off dealer price. I think it was about $500, although I didn't really pay any attention. I can usually flip em used to my dealers for about $300 and they mark em up and resell em, or else they throw em in to get a sale on a unit.

My best prices come when someone says they will pick it up at my warehouse and pay cash. When I have to truck it some place, it costs a good bit more given fuel and time involved. Prices are really fluid because if I can catch a sale from a distributor, rather than take a greater profit, I pass the savings along to my customers.

My brother in law has a gooseneck toy hauler he ordered. He pulls it with his work truck to job sites.
