I am restoring my 74 wagon. The interior was just about perfect for the age of the truck besides normal wear on the carpet and dash pad. It's tan, but I want to match it as close to the original as possible. The truck still have the door tag- does it contain interior color codes and so how do I reference them to a specific color? I have seen repo dash pads but only in black- does anyone make a tan pad?
I've had mine since '83 & never saw in person or from vendors, a colored pad (I have 3 - 4 from the prts rigs, but perfer none), doesn't mean there aren't any. I would say "dye one" but don't think it would work. There are "covers" sold. Same problem, very hard & not porous, so don't C how dye would take. You might cover it with a tan product.
Another site has a decoder...is it the Broncohio site?. Marti could (for a price, I imagine) Ford or the typical vendors.
I have never seen a interior color on the door tag, just a package through the marti report.. you should be able to match the package to the year and get a pretty good idea of the original carpet and dash.. ie.. ranger, sport.. they were slightly different over the years. You might try calling melissa at the bronco hut she might be able to tell you the actual color.. if you dont mind cutting a piece off and sending it to her she will match it.
She matched my 76 ranger dash from a unfaded cut piece... I didn't try to match the barf green that was the stock carpet.. went with something darker that went with the glen green paint
Look inside the glove box. The plate there should have a letter code. I think the plate reads: "WB" "COLOR" and so on. The entry under color is 1 or 2 letters. If you find it let me know and I'll look it up in the Ford prayer book.
