I have a 77 F150 that I am painting a dark Forrest green in the Spring and I just painted the interior metal the same color last weekend. I am going with a black rubber floor covering, so the interior is very dark in color right now. What I am looking for are color ideas for my dash pad, headliner, and bench seat. These items were originally "saddle" colored (tan) and my truck was originally Dark metallic brown. My buddy thinks I should go with black for these items, but I think that may be too dark, since my interior is already a dark color. What do you folks think would look good with the dark Forrest green paint? BTW this color is a Ford factory color currently being used on some of their trucks with a paint code number GG. I don't have pictures of the interior paint yet, but I do have a picture of the under side of my cab painted the same color in my WebShots album (Click photo below).
I would say tan or brown. I spent a lot of money on original green interior parts for my truck, and they don't look good with the color. I think I will redo it eventually with brown since you can buy replacement aftermarket parts cheap. Good luck, and post pictures.
i agree that black would be too dark. I have a friend in VA with a dark green 79' ranger his interior is kind of a mint green color. I really don't like it much either it's like being in Wonkas chocolate factory, but that's up to you. I like the idea of going with tan/brown. You can get whatever color dash pad and door inner panel you want and paint them. The seat should probably be done in a two tone. With the black floor you're really making it dark, carpet would bring it all together, imo. Another trick i've seen done on the interior is wood grain trim for the gauge bezals and around the glove box. It looks good and it also is a nice way to blend a brown interior color with your paint job, you can get inlays that are from original tooling to this day for our style trucks. Just something to thingk about.
I'd go with a 2 tone tan/brown. Get the new gauge bezels and trim inlays with wood grain. Change the seatbelt color and put carpet in.
Check out my gallery and the (used to be mine) 76. I painted it dark green then used saddle carpet and tan for the door panels, dash, and headliner. I think a tan interior is the best compliment to a green truck.
I was leaning towards tan (saddle) myself, since it is the color of my headliner, sun visors, & door panels. I will need to paint my dash though, since it's blue right now. I purposely went with the rubber floor mat, because I plan to use this truck to haul firewood, lumber, mulch, etc, so I don't want to worry about getting in and out of the truck with dirty boots. I had a truck with rubber flooring before and when I traded it in after 6 years the floor looked like it did when I bought it. The rubber flooring was actually more expensive than the carpeting, which was surprising to me.

I agree Nate the tan/saddle color is the way to go. Seeing your old truck really helped. I even have the same exact seat cover on my bench seat. Thanks.
