Rear ABS Sensor refit

Ok,

As the title goes, a refit of a new rear abs sensor. I have been in limp mode with the rear abs sensor for about a year now. Ever since having the rear flex, and the rear helwig sway bar only allowing so much and eventually hitting and destroying the abs sensor and wiring.

The problem stems from the stock height drop arms of the helwig sway bar, and the fact that I replaced the springs in the back and adding the larger block to lift the back end. It is difficult to find the proper length drop bars, and I don't have easy access to get some built.

The result is, the rear sway bar took out the wiring for the rear abs sensor and I had temporarily zip tied it together.

Well, this finally quit on me so I needed to get it fixed, and went the easy route, seeing as I needed to buy a new wiring harness for the abs sensor, I ordered a new sensor as well with this idea in my mind.

I figured there has to be a way to take apart the sensor and place it facing the other way to give the proper clearance around the sway bar. If you have ever crawled under the X you know exactly how silly that wiring set up is stock.

Well, I successfully took apart the sensor, and put it together facing the other way, so the wiring runs up away from the sway bar. Added a few pictures on the way, to make it easier for everyone that wants to attempt this.
Note of caution: Once apart the wires on the coil are VERY FRAGILE and tiny, use caution when cutting the tab so as not to cut the wires.

This is with the sensor put together the other way, but it shows the factory notch in the lip that holds the 2 pcs together. I actually took a little more of it off, so I could get the pcs seperated. You need to make this same notch on the opposite side in order for the pcs to fit together after. This also helps to get the pcs apart in the first place.

Once apart this little tab needs to be cut off in order for it to go back together the other way.

Tab removed, with the pcs ready to snap back together.

Installed, and ready to go. I had to replace the male connector on the X. And no more using the socket to take it off, you need to use an open ended wrench.

Another angle showing the clearance I now have. This should have been this way from the factory, but alas it is now better that stock. LOL

Thanks Wallz, I've had the same issue when twisting offroad with the Hellwig attached. A few pics added. If nothing else, a good chance to clean off any metal chips from the sensor. Reps on the way.

Is that an ABS sensor or VSS. I thought that was the VSS for the speedometer?

It is both.

The funny thing is while unplugged for about 2 weeks my speedo reading was never erattic, but the abs light was on, and the abs system was not functioning.
